The amber cold-health alert in place for the East of England has been extended and will be in place from 12PM on 06/01/2025 until 12PM on 12/01/2025 across the East of England.

Patients can also sign up to receive the NHS Mid and South Essex winter email series that provides expert tips from local health professionals to help them stay healthy and safe throughout the season.
Stay well during cold weather
To minimise risks, please also consider the following advice:

Keep warm: Dress in layers and focus on keeping indoor temperatures at the recommended 18°C in rooms you frequently use.

Check on vulnerable individuals: Reach out to neighbours, relatives, or anyone at higher risk to ensure they are warm and well.

Prepare for travel: If travelling, allow extra time and ensure you have essentials like warm clothing, blankets, and a charged phone.

Eat well: Hot meals and drinks can help you stay warm and maintain energy levels.
